Seogyeom Kim, a cellist, is a junior at Columbus High School in Georgia. He began his cello studies at the age of 9. Throughout his musical journey, Seogyeom has achieved many accomplishments, including winning first prize at the 2024 American Protege International Concerto Competition, where he was also honored with the Judges Distinction Award.
Recently, Seogyeom was selected for prestigious summer programs such as the Philadelphia International Music Festival Solo Performance Preparation Program and the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Spain, one of Europe’s most renowned music schools. During the school year, he earned a place in Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) as a cello performance major after several competitive rounds.
Seogyeom has also served as principal cellist for the 2023 Youth Orchestra Los Angeles National Festival Symphony Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus, the North Georgia Honors Orchestra, the Muscogee County District Honors Orchestra, and the Columbus High School Advanced Orchestra. Additionally, he was elected vice president of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. He participated in Georgia’s All-State Orchestra in 2023 and 2024, securing the 4th chair in the 2024 All-State Full Orchestra. Furthermore, Seogyeom was selected as a finalist for the Samuel Fordis Concerto Competition.
