
Born in Oporto, Paula Morna Dória was a disciple in Portugal of Fernanda Correia and José de Oliveira Lopes, obtaining a Bachelor of Music at the School of Music and Performing Arts of Oporto (ESMAE – 1995) with an overall average course of 15 grade points.
She also graduated in Philosophy with a teaching degree from the Faculty of Letters, University of Oporto (1991) with a final grade of 14 grade points (good).
She holds a Master in Music (Vocal Performance) from Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington (1998) with a final grade of 18 grade points, where he worked under the guidance of Virginia Zeani and Klara Barlow. This academic degree was recognized in Portugal by the University of Aveiro in 2003 and as the equivalence of the final grade was also converted by the Fulbright Commission.
Mrs. Dória is, since December 2011, Doctor in Musical Arts from the Rutgers University of New Jersey with 19 grade points (out of 20) and was a fellow of the Foundation for Science and Technology – Program Praxis XXI to pursue her academic studies in the USA. In April 2004, Mrs. Dória was pleaded with the highest rating her doctoral thesis on the subject ” Berlioz Les nuits d été: aspects of reception and aesthetics.” She has her DMA registered in Portugal through the University of Évora.
Vocal and artistically, Mrs. Dória received in Europe and the USA, the teachings of Rudolph Knoll, Marimi del Pozo, Vera Rozca, Jerome Hines, Judith Nicosia, Bonnie Hamilton, Michael Warren, Barbara Dever, New Thomas, Charles Reicker, Enza Ferrari, Nico Castel, Velia Botti, Bianca Maria Casoni, Alicia Nafé, Viorica Cortez and Fiorella Burato.
