Claire Kim began playing the violin at age 5 and is currently a freshman at Chadwick International School in South Korea. Her passion for music and repertoire has steadily grown over the years, and she shows a strong interest in participating in various musical settings. Claire’s awards include 1st place in both the S-Chamber Orchestra Competition and the Dukwon National Music Competition in 2017, as well as earning the Blue Ribbon I+ (Performance with Distinction) in AMIS (Association for Music in International Schools) with solo and ensemble performances for 4 consecutive years. In 2024, she won 1st place in the American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition, qualified as a finalist in the Junior Division of the Chicago Violin Competition, and received the Grand Prize in the International Seoul Competition in South Korea. Also, she placed 1st in Music in the Vineyards Competition and received the platinum prize and extraordinary technique special award in the Universal Stars Music Competition. Internationally, she served as principal chair of the New England Conservatory Summer Orchestra Institute, was selected as one of the successful candidates of the first round in Basel International Music Newcomer Audtion 2025 in Asia, and performed as one of six soloists at the Interlochen Violin Intensive Camp. She has also received masterclasses with esteemed violinists like Ara Sarkissian, Marcin Arendt, Clara Kim, So-Hyun Park Altino, Kim Hong Jun, Kim Deok Woo, Danny Koo, and more. Claire has also been actively involved in service-related performances, from playing in the Love Beyond the Orphanage Benefit Concert (in collaboration with the Round Square Council) in 2019 to performing a duet at “The String” charity concerts with violinist Danny Koo. Claire aims to expand her musical horizons and continue inspiring others in her community.
