When the members of the AUREUM Saxophone Quartet first crossed paths in 2015, none of them knew what their future would bring. Four completely different characters met and merged into one body of sound. Today the quartet charmingly links tradition and modernity and shakes up classical concert conventions passing on their fire and taking the audience on a very personal journey.

International awards and concert successes led AUREUM – Latin for “golden” – from renowned concert halls in Austria, such as the Vienna Musikverein, to countries like Estonia, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Tunisia, Vietnam, Singapore and Chile, as well as prestigious festivals including the Istanbul Music Festival, Juu Jääb Festival, Haydnregion Festival, Salzkammergut Festwochen and more.

The ensemble is part of concert series and programs such as Jeunesse, Live Music Now, and The New Austrian Sound of Music (NASOM). In addition, the ensemble regularly engages in education programs, for example, with its successful children’s program “MAUSsorgsky” or with the music education project “Mach dir ein Bild vom Klang,” which emerged from a collaboration with the renowned Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich.

Their two released CDs “Newsorgsky” (2018) and “golden roots” (2022) – published by Preiser Records – have been consistently well-received by critics and gained popularity in Austrian media.

The AUREUM Saxophone Quartet oscillate between traditional and progressive ways of musical expression. It combines classical, jazz, world music, and authentic austrian folk music at the highest level. Crossover in a new dimension and a novelty in this formation! Exploring the infinite array of sounds possible on the saxophone AUREUM creates an extraordinary experience for ears, eyes and the heart.
