Alexander Kronbichler, born in South Tyrol (Italy) in 2003, learnt the oboe at the age of 10 and was successful early on in the Austrian youth competition “Prima la Musica”. He won several first prizes at national level, both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble. Further competition successes followed, including a first prize at both the “Giovani in Crescendo” and “Concorso Lodovico Agostini” competitions in Italy.
He gave his first solo performance with an orchestra in August 2022 with the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock under the direction of Marcus Bosch.
In autumn 2022, he began his bachelor’s degree in oboe with Prof. Ralph van Daal at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf (Germany). In his second semester, he was the first oboist ever to win first prize in the university’s internal Rometsch Competition for solo instruments. In October 2023, he also won first prize and the scholarship at the Debut-um-11 competition in Recklinghausen.
This was followed by further concert appearances as a soloist in the Schumann Saal Düsseldorf, in the Haus der Universität, and with the University Orchestra under the direction of Rüdiger Bohn in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and in the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal. He has also been heard on the radio at the WDR Campus Concert, which was broadcast by WDR 3.
He is supported by the Bürgerstiftung Düsseldorf with a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship.
Alexander Kronbichler attended masterclasses with Francois Leleux, Gregor Witt, David Walter, Stefan Schilli and Kai Frömbgen, among others.
