Michelle Kwong has been interviewed by Maestro Magazine, 9th issue (check the issue here) as a multi-talented 13-years- old student currently pursuing professional vocal training in the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, excelling in singing, dancing, and musical theater, with performances that have taken her to prestigious stages in Hong Kong and around the world. 

With an unwavering passion for music, she has earned numerous accolades, including Gold Awards in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals, the Hong Kong Professional Singing Competition (Junior Class) 2023, and consecutive wins at the PERMIA International Young Artist Music Festival (2023 & 2024). Her competition successes extend to top honors in the Global Young Musicians Competition, the International Music Competition Classical Stars, Claude Debussy Competition and the New York Classical Music Competition, along with Silver Awards in the GASCA International Music Competition (Japan, where she has also garnered a Distinction Award), the International Mozart Competition Vienna, the European Virtuoso Music Awards 2024, and the London Classical Music Competition 2025. She further distinguished herself by winning 3rd Prize at the prestigious Salzburg International Music Competition 2024. 

Michelle’s performance career highlights include appearing as a soloist with the Orchestra Filarmonica Città di Roma at Rome’s Basilica del Sacro Cuore, where she also performed as a soprano soloist in the oratorio Elijah under Italian opera singers Alessandro Luciano and Laura Balla. She has graced the stage as a solo vocalist with the In-heritage Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Fan Ting at the Hong Kong City Hall and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in 2023 and 2024, and as a featured soloist in The Snowman & The Bear 2023 with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. Her Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist in July 2024, accompanied by Steinway Artist Carol Yu, marked a special milestone. That same year, Michelle was honored as the cover feature of Knowledge Magazine – a prestigious publication under Bauhinia Magazine Society in Hong Kong.

Recently, she performed as a soloist with the Vienna Boys Choir in Vienna and at the New Palace of Stuttgart, Germany in January 2025, and then with the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra in the Ten Outstanding Persons Concert in February 2025.

Beyond classical performance, Michelle has also explored her passion for musical theater, playing the Diction Coach in Singin’ in the Rain (Hong Kong City Hall 2023), the leading role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (Heung Yee Kuk Theatre Hall 2024), and the leading role of Jasmine in Aladdin (May 2025). She further developed her craft through a masterclass with Natalie Duncan for the role of Maria in The Sound of Music after winning an open audition. 

Through these diverse accomplishments, Michelle continues to establish herself as a remarkable young artist with a bright future ahead, especially through participating in the World Best Musicians Competition.
