Meissa Trio was formed in October 2023 at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Being young as a group, they have already performed at great venues in London such as St. James’s Piccadilly, Old Royal Naval College Chapel, St. Alfege Church, St. George’s Beckenham, Morden College and the Polish Hearth Club. They have been accepted with scholarships for the Cornwall Easter Chamber Music Course. Please see below for the individual biographies;
– Samyuktha Rajagopal (Violin)
Samyuktha Rajagopal is adept at playing both Western classical and South Indian classical violin. From the age of 12 she has been performing in both styles of music. She finished her three year diploma at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music and Dance with Lana Trotvsek, a brilliant violinist from Slovenia. She has attended masterclasses with Notable musicians such as Gábor Takács-Nagy, Liviu Prunaru, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, and she has performed at prestigious festivals such as Pablo Casals, Bellerive, the Pietrasanta festival, etc. Samyuktha was recently awarded a grant from the Colin Blythe Fund.
– Sophie Ehling (Cello)
Sophie Ehling (Netherlands, 1993) began cello lessons at age five. Her love for ensemble playing grew steadily by soon participating in chamber music ensembles and orchestras. As a student of Herre-Jan Stegenga, she obtained her Bachelor Cum Laude (2018) from Codarts, University for the Arts in Rotterdam, and two years later also her Master. She received masterclasses by Raphael Wallfisch, Lucia Swarts, Joachim Eijlander and Uladzimir Sinkevich. Sophie was awarded the Pauline Holden Scholarship, the Trinity College London Scholarship as well as a grant from the Colin Blythe Fund, enabling her to currently pursue postgraduate studies with the renowned cellist David Cohen, at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.
– Yuri Inoshita (Piano)
Born in Barcelona, Yuri started her musical training at the age of five. After graduating from Toho Gakuen High School of Music, she completed her bachelor in Intercultural Communication at Hosei University. She is currently on her postgraduate course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, majoring in Piano Performance under the tuition of Martino Tirimo. Since September 2023, she is a scholar of the Peter Harris Charitable Trust. Yuri has performed at the great venues such as St. James’s Piccadilly, Polish Hearth Club, St. Paul’s Covent Garden, etc. As a collaborative pianist, she was awarded the David Gosling Prize for Piano Accompaniment in the academic year 2022/23.
